ENERGY MAKES A NEW FIELD DISCOVERY
SAN DIEGO--July 23, 1999--Royale Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: ROYL ) has found
natural gas in a new field more than a mile west of the Dunnigan
Hills field in California's Sacramento Basin.
The new field was discovered after reaching total depth on Wednesday,
July 21. Multiple natural gas filled sands are present, giving the

has been set and the well is waiting on a pipeline.

in the North Willows field in the Sacramento Basin. Several
potential natural gas bearing formations were encountered in both,
the shallow depths of the Kione and the deeper Forbes formation.
A total of SEVEN wells have been drilled as PRODUCERS by Royale,
out of nine wells drilled during the first half of 1999.
